Adopt a healthy diet
The food pyramid below shows you what proportions you should have from the different food groups. The base should be carbohydrates; bread, cereals, rice and pasta. These foods you can eat often every day. The top of the pyramid; fat, oils and nuts, are to be used sparingly, because they contain a lot of fat and calories.
Follow the plate model!
Monitoring how much to eat is easy - divide your plate into three parts. The smallest part of your plate (1/4 of the whole plate) is for your protein. The rest of the plate is divided into two equal parts. One part is for vegetables or fruit and the other part is for pasta, rice or potatoes.
